Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical Ministries at St. Gabriel

The mission of our liturgical ministries is to support Fr. Richard Vu in the reverent and faithful celebration of the Holy Mass. Fr. Richard thoughtfully plans each liturgy, ensuring that every Mass follows the liturgical norms of the Roman Missal and the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Many dedicated volunteers and ministry groups assist the clergy to create a welcoming, prayerful, and orderly worship experience for all.

If you feel called to serve or would like to learn more about any of these ministries, please contact the Parish Office at (770) 461-0492.

Mass Captains

Mass Captains coordinate all ministries at each mass under the direction of the clergy, ensuring everything runs smoothly

Saturday, 5:00pm - Moses Skaff
Sunday, 8:00am - Mary & Larry Anderson
Sunday, 10:30am - Mary Ellen Hatfield

Altar Linen Guild

Members of this guild care for the sacred vessels, linens, candles, hosts, wine, and other liturgical supplies. They ensure that altar linens are cleaned, vestments are cared for seasonally, and that the sacristy remains a holy and orderly space.

Altar Server

Altar Servers assist the celebrant and deacons at the altar during weekend Masses, holy days, weddings, and funerals. Altar servers must have received their First Holy Communion. If your child is interested in serving, please contact the Parish Office. This ministry is coordinated by Deacon Anthony Calderon.

Art & Environment

The Art & Environment ministry helps create a reverent atmosphere for worship through the planning and arrangement of seasonal décor, flowers, and other artistic touches that reflect the liturgical seasons. This ministry is coordinated by Mrs. Connie Davis.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHC)

EMHCs assist in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. Some are also commissioned to bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound in our community. EMHCs must be at least 16 years old, confirmed, and in good standing with the Church.

Sacristan

Sacristans prepare all that is needed for the celebration of the Eucharist, including bread, wine, and altar arrangements. Special training is required, and candidates must have served as EMHCs for at least one year before becoming a sacristan.

Lector

Lectors proclaim the Word of God by reading the Sacred Scriptures during Mass, inspiring faith in all who gather. This ministry is coordinated by Deacon Anthony Calderon.

Usher

Ushers welcome parishioners and guests, assist with seating, take up the offertory collection, direct the Communion procession, and distribute bulletins after Mass.

We invite all parishioners to prayerfully consider sharing your time and gifts in service to our parish’s liturgical life. Together, we honor God and foster a spirit of hospitality and reverence at every celebration of the Eucharist at St. Gabriel. Please contact the Parish Office if you are interested in joining any of these ministries.
